To mHello, my name is Joe!  I go by many names: Smokin Joe, Scarps, and Scalloped Potatoes to name a few.  I am the bassist of Dead Larry, as well as the frontman of Smokin’ Joe & Friends.  I also help put on a lil’ fest called Galactic Get Down.  Raised (for the most part) in Iowa City, IA.  I started playing music when I was 9 years old, and have been playing ever since.  I am a founding member of Dead Larry - which formed in June 2004.  I moved up to Minneapolis with Dead Larry in fall of 2011.  I am obsessed sci-fi television and movies.  My favorite sci-fi is “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”  Jean-Luc Picard is my captain.  My favorite kinds of music are brit-pop, 90s alternative, and funk.  A few of my favorite artists are Radiohead, The Coral, The Fratellis, Deltron 3030, and Ratatat.  I spend most of my free time with my lovely wife Angela, and go out to see live music.  I love being a part of the Midwest music scene, and do everything I can to support local artists.  The Midwest music community is a beautiful thing - and I am just happy to be a part of it!!  I hope to see you all at the Get Down!ake this item your own, click here.
